Zambia

As one of Africa’s best-kept secrets, Zambia offers an authentic taste of ''true'' safaris in areas like South Luangwa, Lower Zambezi and Kafue. This is the country that started walking safaris back in the 50s – certainly still the purest and most thrilling way to see wildlife.

There is also great tiger and fly-fishing opportunities, as well as canoeing safaris, adrenaline-pumping white-water rafting and swimming to the edge of the Victoria Falls ''Devils Pool''. Expect herds of elephant and buffalo roaming the vast plains, along with lions, leopards, and cheetahs.

Zambia promises an uncrowded and unpretentious safari adventure.

Malawi

Malawi is known as the ''warm heart of Africa''; one of the smallest and most scenic African countries.

The famous Lake Malawi is the world’s ninth largest freshwater lake offering excellent snorkeling, sailing, kayaking and diving; the perfect beach holiday. It is an amazing country to visit if you are wanting to get a feel of African life, culture, scenery and wildlife.

Keep in mind though that this is not a prime wildlife destination but that doesn't mean it should be missed, we'd suggest combining it with Zambia's South Luangwe National Park to get a bush and beach experience.

Uganda

Small and untouched, Uganda is an ideal safari location and the source of the White Nile. It's also one of the last protected refuges of the increasingly rare mountain gorilla. Trek with an experience guide through Kibale Forest National Park to see its 13 species of primate.

Visit Queen Elizabeth National Park and see the Big Five, including the tree-climbing lion. Boat trips along the Ishasha River promise water-dwelling birdlife, hippo pods and elephant herds lining the banks. Or enjoy heart-pounding white-water rafting, bungee jumping and fishing on the Nile.

Uganda's lodges are intimate and mostly owner-run, yet the quality of accommodation arranged is first rate.

Ethiopia

Ethiopia is one of the most fascinating lands in the world, with a rich and varied history spanning long before Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire ever existed. It's a place of dramatic natural beauty, of mountains, valleys, lakes, rivers, and the magnificent Blue Nile falls. Climb over 3000 meters on the world-famous Simien Mountains or explore Africa’s lowest areas on the Danakil Depression.

In between, behold a scenery whose beauty knows no bounds – sweeping savannas, tempting lakes, lush highlands, alluring deserts, and plateaus. Ethiopia has a wealth of history being the only African country to have escaped European colonialism, preserving most of its cultural identity.
